As another school year now arrives, we would like to take this opportunity to send you a note of encouragement as you continue your educational process at the surrounding school systems.
We realize that students today face greater challenges in school than people of past generation ever had to encounter. Students of today go to school with the threats of violence, drugs, immorality of every kind, as well as the ever increasing temptation to cheat on important tests to "stay ahead" of the competition as the job world "looms" on the horizon.
As a Christian, you are not immune to any of these temptations, however, you have a relationship with the Lord that you can draw upon to enable you to overcome where it seems that others are failing.
We encourage you to find other students who serve God as well, (believe me, they are there), and begin to develop relationships with them including meeting together at appropriate times for prayer and bible study.
While it may seem a great challenge to share your faith, you will find that as you begin to do so, God will be there to give you the words and wisdom as you make an impact on the friends around you. In other words, "Let your light shine!" "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
The basics of growing in the Lord are always important as you continue to pray, read the Word for guidance, and as mentioned before, share your faith with those around you, *and* be sure to attend our church where the Gospel is preached. And for our college students, Don't be concerned about finding a "clone" of your home church because it won't happen, but you can certainly find a Great ministry here at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
We here at Mt. Olive stand behind you, and will be praying that God will use you in powerful ways as you learn and develop...and yes, teach others around you about Christ!
